The National Social Action “Action Award” is a biennial award established to recognize chapters’ outstanding commitment to serving, educating, and empowering communities to engage in and continue their active involvement in local, state and national issues. This award is given to one alumnae chapter per region, one collegiate chapter per region, and one international chapter biennially during the national convention. The National Social Action “Action Award” is awarded to chapters who have conducted outstanding social action projects or activities (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2025), virtual or in person that focus on social justice and legislative/policy advocacy.
San Antonio Alumnae Chapter led the charge against Texas Senate Bill 1 on several fronts. Members attended court proceedings for six weeks, provided NAACP Legal Defense Fund attorneys with pertinent personal experiences of voter suppression tactics, coordinated public rallies and marches at the federal courthouse, and provided hospitality to International President Elsie Cooke Holmes, National Executive Board Members, Social Action Commissioners, and Regional Leadership.
